The Lord Within

“Our sufficiency is from God.” – 2 Corinthians 3:5

Every one of us must come to understand the sufficiency of Christ in order to be used by Him. It’s His sufficiency, not your own, that changes lives. This may be disheartening to some, but when the finite limitations of self-sufficiency are miraculously revealed, we come to understand the extraordinary power of having accepted Christ within.

The Lord calls each of us to do infinitely more than we can even imagine. Yet, so many times, we become stifled by our own limitations. Look at the lives of all of the followers of Christ who made a dynamic impact on other people; the one thing they have in common is passion fueled by the Lord’s abilities, not their own. We can only accomplish as much as is within. It’s time to ask, “Have I allowed the Lord within?”

Undoubtedly, there are many women today who have not allowed these truths to seep into their hearts. You continue to rely on your own sufficiency, striving to become some fabricated illusion of a Christian superwoman. May I remind you, dear sister, that your striving is unnecessary. 2 Corinthians 12:9 powerfully states, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Your effectiveness and success in your family, work, ministry, and relationship with the Lord are dependent on His grace and His sufficiency, not your energy and perfect execution of tasks. Ironically, we often have too much trust in ourselves when things are going well and not enough trust in the Lord when things are going poorly.
I am reminded of 2 Corinthians 3:5, a verse that is becoming my anthem. “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.” I implore you, ladies, take these words to heart! God is our sufficiency! Not only that, His grace provides all the sufficiency we need to keep going.

You do not always have to be strong. Allow the Lord’s strength to be made perfect in your weakness. He is “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27). His sufficiency far exceeds any deficiency you have – real or imagined. The Lord does mighty things through willing vessels. Are you willing?

In Christ’s love,
Julie

“Like any other gift, the gift of grace can be yours only if you'll reach out and take it. Maybe being able to reach out and take it is a gift too.” - Unknown
