Week 3

A Constant in Times of Change

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 NIV

Change is inevitable. Many times it feels like life transitions are the only constant.

Solomon reminds us that life continues to march on through a series of inevitable transitions. There are times for birth, death, weeping, laughing, mourning, dancing, silence, speaking, war and peace (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8).

As joyous or painful as they may be, these are a natural part of life. However, they are not without meaning! If you have God in your life, you can trust Him through the changes—knowing that every day that passes brings you closer to your eternal destiny in the presence of God Himself. Solomon observed that God “has set eternity” in their hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Take every opportunity you can to find eternal significance and meaning in the changes and transitions you experience. Change is not the only constant. God Himself is an unchanging God. The Alpha and Omega—beginning and the end. Take comfort in that. He will always be there ready to sustain you!

Prayer:
Dear Lord. I want to make You first in my life—in every thought, every decision, and every move. Draw me closer to You so that I can achieve this goal. Let me hear Your voice so I can know Your will and walk in it through every change and transition in life. Amen.
