For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

Credit cards! The most ingenious concept of buy now, pay later could be considered one of the most profound inventions in history. In 1952, Ralph Schneider and Frank McNamara became geniuses when they presented the Diners Club credit card in New York. They must have clearly understood how the American people would react to the concept of instant gratification and how they would cling to the ownership of a credit card. Think about it-receiving something without having to actually pay right at that moment! It sounds positively amazing, especially to the compulsive female shopper who is told she will receive a percentage off her purchase upon applying for one of these cards. However, theres a dissonance that occurs when she has a compulsion to do the same thing in the next store, but is denied because of bad credit. You see, with credit cards we must pay for the debt we accumulate. And there are interest rates on our credit cards holding a grudge against us and increasing our debt, most of the time by exorbitant amounts. This Christmas season, think about the following credit card advertisement: NO interest, NO maximum balance, NO credit report required, and IMMEDIATE approval! And if you apply today, your debt is cancelled forever! This is exactly our Fathers intent in sending His Son to die in our place. Jesus became the payment for our sins. He offered us a credit balance to receive salvation and never pay for it. In fact, you cannot pay for it. Absolutely no interest accrues. And you are approved. Accepted. Held. Loved. He wants us to keep coming to Him. The balance is never maxed out!
