Therefore stand in awe of God. Ecclesiastes 5:7b
When singing during worship time at church, have you ever felt like you were performing for a Lip Sync Contest? Mouthing the words. Reciting the prayers. But no aspect of awe and wonder. No feeling of adoration toward an Almighty God. No desire to lift a hand in thanksgiving to the one and only true God, worthy of all praise. When we lose the attitude of awe and wonder, complacency sets in. Thoughts about all we have to do and where we need to go begin to pile up and consume our focus. All of a sudden, the song is over and we have missed an opportunity to praise our amazing God. Work on practicing the discipline of gratitude. Sit down with your family each night and pray together, strictly praising and thanking God. An attitude of gratitude will surely expand your heart into adoration and wonder of the living God who makes your heart His dwelling place. There is always something to thank Him for. Your eyes will be opened. Your passion renewed. Your heart will begin to refocus on what really matters-giving honor and praise to Him who is worthy of all adoration.- Bible Readings for the Week Ahead:
