Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.... Hebrews 12:28
When I was a girl, I was awestruck with David Cassidy. If you’re my age you remember The Partridge Family. Along with every other girl, I thought I was going to marry him. Then I met Tim. As little girls, weve all been in awe of someone or something-good or bad. I am sure you have someone in mind even now. But God doesn’t want us to admire worthless things (Psalm 119:37)... He wants our attention on Him. He wants us to fear Him and keep ourselves from idols (1 John 5:21), Fixing our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18). Do you need a renewed sense of Gods majesty? Are you lacking in wonder over the Lord of the creation? Then its time to turn your eyes from the idols of the world because, Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs (Joel 2:8). Take a moment today depending on where you live to soak in the beautiful countryside... the millions of stars in the midnight sky... the snow-covered mountains... the deep, blue ocean... and become awestruck by our King.- Bible Readings for the Week Ahead:
