“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Male, Female, Young, Old, Tall, Short, Famous, Common…just to name a few. For some, their hero may be a family member or friend. For others, their hero is a celebrity or a famous athlete.
In the military, the Purple Heart is given when a soldier completes an act of bravery that most likely placed his own life in danger. He is honored and considered a “Hero.” The fireman who races into a burning building in attempt to save lives, he is a “Hero.” The mother who picks her child up after a fall, she is a “Hero.”
There are heroes in the nursery at your church, in your child’s classroom, at the local homeless shelter in your community, at the teen pregnancy center…you see, heroes are everywhere!
Just look in the mirror. Because God became your hero – you can be a hero too! When you feel weak and vulnerable, He is your strength and a safe haven. When you need rescuing from the craziness of life, He will provide for your needs. He is truly the ultimate, “Hero!” And we are too when we let Him do His work in and through us everyday.
