"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death..." Psalm 23:4
Loss is a part of life. In a way, we must learn how to become “winners” at the fine art of “losing” to make it through. We must find a way to face losses, grieve, and continue living. Sounds like a really sad formula doesn’t it? But it’s the reality of life.
That’s why I believe God carefully places crucial Scripture into our hearts, especially during times of loss and heartache. Psalm 23 was a refuge for me when I lost my father. Here is what God reminds us—of His presence both now and for eternity. It’s because of Jesus we as Christians can experience simultaneous emotions of sorrow and joy.
Part of me asks, “God, why is dad gone?” The other part says, “I will see him again.” Sorrow and joy together at the same time—because of what Christ did on the cross.
When hard times hit, know that Jesus will restore your soul. He will guide you in paths of righteousness. And even though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death—He walks with you.
Sorrow is a part of life but so is our hope in Christ. That’s the joy that gives us strength and allows us to find joy in the morning.
