"Teach me your way, O Lord; and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name." Psalms 86:11

Ever have difficulty trying to decide where to go for dinner? Imagine your parents are in town and want you to go with them, but your husband has a banquet he must attend. A heart divided between two loves.

Such distractions are often minor. But, major ones exist too. Internal battles you fight every day. Your thought life. Envy. Temptation. You know the battles you fight… every day.

The way to battle distraction and fleeting pleasures is to fill our minds with the truth of God’s Word.

Jesus taught us that we cannot serve two masters. Our hearts cannot share the pleasures of this world with the pleasures of God. We must choose this day who we will serve. Has your heart been divided? Have you lost sight of the purpose for which you were created? If so, may your heart connect to the plea of the Psalmist and run to the way of the Lord.

Prayer
Dear Lord. Shield me from the temptations of the world that bombard me every day in a thousand ways. Help me to focus on You and Your purpose for my life. With my eyes focused on You, my heart will stay undivided, loyal only to You. Amen.
