"No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us." 1 John 4:12

From time to time we lack security. We don’t feel safe. We can even wonder, “Does God really love me? How could He after all I’ve done?” When the trials of life press in… He often seems even further away. Welcome to the danger zone. It’s where evil whispers lies in your ear. Evil tells you that love can’t be trusted. Evil says that God is far away and really doesn’t care.

But here is where God is at His best, by sending little reminders that He can be trusted, that His love is constant and near.

God’s love shows in the gentle hug of a friend who knows you’re hurting but doesn’t know why. God’s love shines in the gentle touch of a nurse during a chemo treatment or in the gentle voice of a doctor. It appears in the act of a neighbor who returns your trash can after it blows down the street; or in the smile of your child who says, “You’re the best mommy ever.” It’s a card on your birthday that makes you laugh or an email that arrives for no other reason than to cheer you up.

God’s love is all around you. When you look for Him, He will be found. His love shines through the lives of His people.

Prayer
Open my eyes, Lord, that I can see Your love shining through the lives of those who touch my life every day. Help me to realize that this is Your love living in Your people. Let these little gestures of love build my trust in You. Amen.
