"Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes." Psalm 37:7

"But Mommy, I want it now," cried little Suzie as she threw a temper tantrum in the middle of the aisle. Leaving the toy store together, Suzie’s mom wondered where she went wrong. Have you ever felt that way—wondering why your child was so impulsive and needed everything now?

Later that evening, Suzie looked at herself in the bathroom mirror and cried… not for her daughter, but for the financial pressure, “God, why can’t this be fixed now? I just want to not have to worry about where our next meal will come from!” Feeling the pressure of having no money, she was also feeling distant from God. And wanted it all fixed – today.

All too often we are no different from our kids screaming for toys in the middle of the store. Let’s face it – waiting is not easy. Especially in the “I want it now” culture we live in. But as Charles Spurgeon said, “God is too good to be unkind. He is too wise to be confused. If I cannot trace His hand, I can always trust His heart.” When you seek His counsel and wait until you have clarity, you have the freedom to move with confidence, either toward something that’s good for you or away from something that isn’t.

Time is a commodity, and we as women have to make the most of it. God’s got your life in the palm of His hand and in His heart. If you wait patiently for His plan to unfold, for His dream for you to be revealed, you can live and walk in the confidence of knowing He is with you every step of the way.

Prayer
O Lord. Help me to wait patiently for You. Quiet my urge to rush ahead of Your plans for my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
