“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,

who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

– James 1:5 (NIV)

Daily Meditation: James 1, James 2, James 3:13-18

Give me a heart of wisdom… that’s what Solomon asked for. He didn’t ask for more time or money, although he could have asked for anything at all. Instead of wealth, fame, or fortune, he chose wisdom, and God blessed him with everything imaginable.

What do you want more than anything? What do you dream about and long for? For many women, the honest answer would be a romantic relationship, physical beauty, finances, a child, or maybe simply some rest. Sometimes a difficult or confusing circumstance can shift that perspective, and with sudden clarity we realize what we really need: Faith. Strength. Wisdom. Wisdom is not mere knowledge, but knowledge applied.

God says that he gives us wisdom “without finding fault.” There is no guilt or shame in asking God for wisdom or help. He does not require—much less expect—us to have all the answers. Even if we are in a situation caused by our own wrongdoing, the Lord will grant us wisdom. He wants us to simply ask him, and he gives it “generously!”

“Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool.

But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.”

– Charles Spurgeon

Be fearless: Is there an area of your life in which you feel uncertain? Is there an area where you feel stuck or unsure? Pray right now for wisdom in that area. Know that your prayers are heard. God never lets us down.
