Daily Meditation: Philippians 2, 2 Corinthians 5:11-21

 

The dew on the ground, the small green blades of grass poking out of the lawn after a hard winter, the warmth of the sun’s rays on a cold morning; they all shout “fresh and new” to me. It’s a new day!

 

God’s faithfulness is like that. Even after a hard season, a broken heart, or a long battle, his faithfulness never runs out, and his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.” Every moment of every day, love and compassion are fresh and new from our heavenly Father. He doesn’t run out of anything. He always has plenty of whatever we need.

 

Indeed, “The Lord is my portion,” for he is more than everything we need. He is always much more than enough for us. In that we can rejoice!

 

As women, we may run out of energy, strength, passion, or patience. We might feel like we are “at the end of our rope” or just “so done” with the day’s challenges. It is at these junctures that we must stop and make sure we are staying connected to the Lord so that he can renew our strength. The Lord wants to pour new mercies onto and into us, but he will not force himself on us; we must seek him. When we are feeling exhausted and overwhelmed, we can buy into the lie that we don’t have time for relationship with the Lord, but the exact opposite is true. It is only with the Lord’s strength that we can continue living well. We can do all things—persist in all situations, hold fast to our faith no matter the circumstances—“through Christ who strengthens” us (Philippians 4:13).

Be fearless: Thankfully, the fact that we can run out of gas, run ourselves ragged, or even run on empty is in no way a reflection of our Father! He never runs out. And yes, we can reflect him by giving to others, but only when we are anchored in him. So renew yourself each morning by plugging into the only unlimited source of life, power, and peace.
