“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

– Hebrews 13:5b (NIV)

Daily Meditation: Hebrews 13, 1 Samuel 12:22

It’s funny how in a room full of people we can still feel alone. Maybe you’ve felt alone in the school cafeteria, on the school bus, in a classroom, at a dance hall, with a sports team, or at a mall. Even in a place where there are people everywhere, in the midst of all the laughter and chatter we can sometimes feel more alone and isolated than when we are by ourselves. We’ve all had our moments of feeling alone even when we are surrounded by other people, but with God you are never alone. Not ever! You always have an audience of one! Listen to him speak to your heart right now. He declares that:

  •   He will never leave you.
  •   He will never forsake you.

When I’m deep in worry, these two “nevers” move me toward peace and joy and help me sleep at night. Yes, we need friends, but even friends cannot fully remove our feelings of being alone. Only our Father in heaven can do that. He is with us every moment of the day, walking beside us, holding our hands, giving us the strength to carry on. Friends are wonderful, but there are times when they leave you. Friends can forsake you. People you rely on may hurt you deeply. But God will never abandon you. Even when you can’t feel him, he is still there! He longs to take you in his arms and comfort you. You are his daughter, his precious child! He will always be there for you when you need him.

“Snuggle in God’s arms. When you are hurting, when you feel lonely, left out.

Let Him cradle you, comfort you, reassure you of His all-sufficient power and love.”

– Kay Arthur

Be fearless: Peace, not to mention boldness, comes when I realize that his hand is always in mine. We are not—and never can be—alone. His words are true. You are safe. Go ahead, cling to his hand!
