“I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.”

– Psalm 119:93 (NIV)

Daily Meditation: Psalm 119:9-16, 2 Corinthians 3

Do you ever have trouble remembering things? I know I do, and it drives me nuts! But I’ve found that the best way to ensure that I remember something is to repeat it in my mind, write it down, or tell it to someone else and ask them to remind me about it.

I love the Psalms because they are constantly reminding me of God’s goodness, truth, life, hope, and love. David repeats the truths of God’s love over and over, cementing them in his mind and in mine. My hope is that “I will never forget your precepts,” but that rather, through daily study, I will remember everything I read from God’s precious Word!

So how can you always keep God’s precepts in the forefront of your mind? By repeating them! Write them down. Journal about what you are learning. Discuss with a friend the Scriptures you are reading. Engross yourself in the Word of God to the point that you are living out the truths of Scripture without even thinking about it! When we spend time around others, we start to emulate their characteristics, and the same thing happens when we spend time with God. Repeat the good. Live your life the way God tells you to. Think about His Word; meditate on it and live out loud!

“Living is like tearing through a museum. Not until later do you really start

absorbing what you saw, thinking about it, looking it up in a book, and remembering – because you can’t take it in all at once.”

– Audrey Hepburn

Let’s do what it takes to not forget His precepts. Let’s hide them in our hearts and live them out in our lives.

It is sad to think how fast we forget the very words that bring us life. My hope is that we are now more motivated to remember and apply them! Let’s focus today on hiding the words of Scripture in our hearts. Let’s make it our goal to absorb them and never let them go. The amazing thing about hiding His words in our lives is that it brings us life and freedom!
