Daily Meditation: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Philippians 4

 

I love secrets! What woman doesn’t? Although  most secrets, by definition, are best left unsaid, some secrets actually should not be kept private. They need to be shared, passed around, and often repeated. Such is the secret of contentment.

 

The Apostle Paul is a good example. Now, being shipwrecked, beaten, and persecuted is certainly not on my bucket list of things I want to do, but I do want to master is being content. Paul said, “I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation.” I want to learn that too.

 

So what is the secret to contentment? Here it is:

 

  1. Keep your eyes on Jesus.
  2. Avoid comparison with others at all costs.
  3. Never adopt a “victim” mentality.

 

When we walk in contentment, the world is truly a better place, opportunity abounds, the grass is greener on our side of the fence, we have something wonderful to offer to others, and we are whole. So go ahead and share it; that is one secret you can tell the world!

Contentment is not only a secret; it is my own personal choice. Nobody else can do it for me. Those who live a contented life really are enviable! Be enviable, but freely give away your secret.
